Dr. James R. Terry
Primary Care Physician In Grapevine, TXMid-Cities Direct Care
Dr. Terry was born and raised in East Texas where he developed a love for sports, outdoor activities, and, most importantly, found the love of his life and best friend, his wife, Elaine. After completing high school, he spent one year at Tulane University in New Orleans, subsequently transferring to and finishing undergraduate training with a Bachelor of Arts in biology at Austin College in Sherman, TX. Following his time at Austin College, he and Elaine had the first of their three sons, the other two coming along during medical school. After obtaining his initial bachelor's degree, and prior to entering medical school, he earned a Bachelor of Sciences degree in Medical Technology Sciences at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas and spent a short time working as a medical technologist. He proudly attended medical school at Southwestern Medical School and Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, achieving his MD degree in 1984. Following medical school, and adhering to his rural, small-town background, he entered specialty training at the nationally recognized Family Medicine internship and residency program at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Dr. Terry has been practicing in the Mid Cities area since 1987, actively involved in several large, traditional, insurance-linked, office-based and hospital care groups for thirty years. It has been this experience that has helped him recognize there is a better, more easily accessible, patient-friendly, and affordable way to provide primary medical care. Whitney Elkan, RN
Whitney grew up in the Northern Kentucky/Cincinnati, Ohio area. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northern Kentucky University and upon graduating relocated with her husband to Euless, TX where she began her nursing career at Methodist Dallas Medical Center. After 5 years in the hospital setting, she ventured out and became a Clinical Liaison for a home infusion company in the South Dallas area. It was here that through a mutual acquaintance, she was introduced to Dr. Terry, Mid Cities Direct Care, and an exciting, new professional opportunity.
When Whitney is not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Bryan, son Ben, and dog Bailey. Traveling, long walks, and playing in the park are some of their favorite activities.

Understanding Direct Care
The process is simple
With the Direct Primary Care model, patients receive a full range of primary care services, including routine care, wellness visits, preventive care, minor procedures and care coordination in exchange for a flat, recurring monthly fee that is paid directly to Mid-Cities Direct Care. Here at MCDC we are able to expand quality health care by eliminating some of the hassles that go along with accessing traditional healthcare facilities, like insurance red-tape. Instead of requiring insurance, we offer simple, affordable memberships. There is no contracting with insurance companies; thus, no insurance co-pays, deductibles or co-insurance fees involved when being seen. By avoiding such obligations to insurance companies, we are able to provide a more desirable primary care experience while significantly reducing costs and passing those on to our patients.
